We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week and being drug free at school. Teachers were asked to decorate their doors and I decided to go with a LEGO theme.
I always want my students to be a part of what I'm doing, so I asked my 5th graders to create LEGO posters with Drug Free messages. I had them use Google Drawing to create their posters.
I have a lot of LEGO minifigures, and I knew the hardest part of the assignment would be balancing the kids creative and play needs with our time limits. The students, like me, could spend an entire class period just selecting and placing their LEGO figures!
Once they had selected their minifigures and had a basic background LEGO wall, they used Photo Booth and an iPEVO camera to take their pictures.
I like this small document camera for use with the LEGO. The stand provides a built in tripod, which allows for good still pictures.
Once the students had their images, they opened a Google Drawing assignment from Google Classroom. They uploaded their image(s), added WordArt, Callouts, and text boxes to create their posters.
My students had a great time creating their posters and I often see younger students stopping in the hallway to look at the posters. Everything is AWESOME with LEGO, tech, and kids!
