Writing friendly letters is a skill many of my students need to learn. Here are a variety of resources to engage your students and freshen up your lesson plans on friendly letters:
Letter Generator- The Letter Generator tool is designed to help students learn to identify all the essential parts of a business or friendly letter, and then generate letters by typing information into letter templates. A sample letter is included, and students can learn about the parts of a letter by reading descriptions of each part.
Letter Writer Helper- Arthur leads students through the parts of a letter, e-mail, greeting card, and postcard. Students can also "write" Letters To Arthur, Francine, Sue Ellen and the Brain. After submitting the letter, students will get a responding letter from the character.
ABCYa Friendly Letter Generator- Another nice tool to help students create a letter online.
Jan Brett Friendly Letter Stationery- Free student writing templates to download and print.
Good Reads Book List: Books about Mail- Scroll down the page for a huge list of children's books dealing with letter writing and mail.
Kidspiration Friendly Letter Template- Here is a template I created and have used with my second grade students.
